Growing Up Great: Early Science Programs
Show #2257
Original Airdate: 8/16/09

Description

Well-designed preschool education programs produce long-term improvements in school success, including higher achievement test scores, lower rates of grade repetition and special education, and higher educational achievement. The strongest evidence suggests that economically disadvantaged children reap long-term benefits from preschool. However, children from all other socioeconomic backgrounds have been found to benefit as well. This half-hour installment focuses on the importance of science education at the preschool level that benefits children from the Greater Newark area. Additionally, panelists discuss tangible activities that parents and care-givers can use at home to explore science concepts with their children.
