| "Informed
Choices" is a special Caucus series looking at a range
of health issues affecting New Jersey and the nation. On this
installment, we look at hepatitis c, a serious disease spread
by contaminated blood that kills between 10,000 and 12,000
Americans yearly, and about half a million people around the
globe yearly.
"Hepatitis C: The Silent Epidemic" examines the
human side of this illness: its impact on family life, relationships,
work and lifestyle, and the hope that new pharmaceuticals
offer to patients. The program will highlight such issues
as how the disease is contracted, what the symptoms are,
who is at risk, difficulty of diagnosis, connection to other
liver problems and current and future treatments available.
