Living Green is a special Caucus series looking at what families, communities, and organizations can do to conserve energy. On this program, we feature three of the 2008 Clean Energy Award winners and BPU president Jeanne Fox. These individuals represent some of the organizations that were awarded the 2008 BPU Clean Energy Awards for contributing to cleaner living and have used the Clean Energy Program for guidance and/or incentives or rebates. These winners are represented by Roger Marran (Energy Kinetics), Pamela Franks (Sun Farm Ventures) and Norman Torkelson (Hopewell Valley School District). Panelists will discuss how to make a difference in their homes, businesses, and communities by conserving energy, minimizing their collective carbon footprint, and seeking ways to use renewable sources while promoting sustainability. Energy plays a vital role in the health of New Jersey’s economy and environment. Families who are barely getting by paycheck to paycheck cannot bear ever-increasing energy bills; businesses need reliable supplies of energy at affordable and predictable prices to remain competitive. The production, distribution and use of energy, unless wisely managed, can threaten the economy of this State, the quality of our air and water and the health of our residents.
